A single touchscreen station controls two Zebra printers at once: one for the size and color labels, the other for the EAN-13 barcodes.

The operator selects the product, enters the quantity and starts printing. The interface is simple enough that staff can work on their own after less than 30 minutes of training.

Selecting the product

The product is identified through four dependent fields: type, model, color and size. The interface shows only the combinations that exist in the catalog, so nonexistent variants can't even be selected.

Search also works without diacritics: typing "camasa" automatically finds the products containing "cămașă".

Entering the quantity

The operator enters the number of labels needed, and the system automatically adjusts the quantity to fill every row on the roll completely.

Transparent labels print in rows of three, barcodes in rows of two. That avoids partially printed rows and wasted consumables.

Printing

The operator can choose between "Print transparent labels", "Print barcodes" or "Print all", in which case both printers start at the same time.

The product name, SKU and EAN code are pulled automatically from the central database. Nothing has to be entered manually at the station.

If the wrong product was selected, printing can be stopped immediately on both printers.

A complete print log

Every operation is recorded automatically together with the date, time, product, quantity and label type.

The last 1,000 operations can be reviewed in the admin interface, and records older than 180 days are removed automatically, following the configured retention policy.

Two Zebra printers, operated at once

From a single interface, the station controls one printer for transparent size and color labels, laid out three per row, and one printer for EAN-13 barcode labels, laid out two per row.

Each printer uses its own template and its own configuration, but both are driven from the same screen.

A central catalog, no manual entry

SKUs, EAN codes and product descriptions come from a single database.

The catalog can be updated via CSV files exported from an ERP or Excel. The import is transactional, and the source file is archived automatically before processing.

ZPL template editor

Label templates can be edited straight from the browser, using dynamic fields for the product name, SKU, EAN and size.

The system renders Romanian diacritics correctly and includes test functions for each printer, plus template verification across every label model.

Touch interface, kiosk-ready

The interface is optimized for touchscreens, with big buttons and instructions in Romanian. It can be installed as a PWA and requires no login for printing operations.

After 15 minutes of inactivity, the screen automatically returns to its initial state, ready for the next operator.

Monitoring and automatic recovery

A monitoring service checks the application every five minutes and automatically restarts any component that stops responding.

Settings and the catalog are included in a daily backup, available for download straight from the web interface.

Low cost, no software licenses

The solution runs on an ordinary single-board computer and Zebra printers connected to the local network.

The entire stack is open-source, with no recurring licensing costs. The system runs locally, with no dependency on cloud services or the internet connection.

Not a demo. It labels real products every day.

The reference station is used in production by Petra-Elisa, a Romanian brand of socks and tights for women and children, for a catalog of nearly 1,000 SKUs organized into 58 models.

Staff print labels right at packing time — no paper lists, no Excel files open on the side, no hand-filled labels.

At volume, the details make the difference: long color names are adjusted automatically to fit the label, product names are split evenly across two lines, and tokens like "20 DEN" always stay intact.

Frequently asked questions.

Which printers are compatible?

The system works with Zebra printers and with other models that use the ZPL language and are connected to the local network.

Printing goes directly over TCP, with no extra drivers and no dedicated print server. If the printer is reachable on the network and accepts ZPL, it can be integrated into the station.

How do I update the product catalog?

The catalog is updated via a CSV file exported from an ERP or Excel.

The import is transactional: data is saved only if the entire file processes correctly. Before every update, the uploaded file is archived automatically, so previous versions can be recovered whenever needed.

What happens if the internet connection goes down?

The station keeps working normally. The catalog, templates and printing run entirely on the local network and don't depend on cloud services or internet access.

All that's required is that the station and the printers are connected to the same local network.

Who handles maintenance?

The system includes automatic monitoring, restarts for services that stop responding, daily backups and periodic cleanup of the activity log.

For configuration and administration there is a login-protected web interface. We install the solution, configure the templates for the labels you use and train the staff who will operate the station.
